Tech-savvy billionaire/business magnate Elon Musk has promised to pay free-content online encyclopedia Wikipedia $1 billion if it changes its name. Elon made the bold dare to the site in an offer he’d posted on his newly “renovated” social media platform X (formerly Twitter)
In the said post the Tesla CEO quoted an earlier post with a screenshot of a personal appeal from Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales stating that the website is “not for sale.”
The father of 11 noted that he would pay the company 1 billion US dollars if they changed their name from Wikipedia to Dickipedia. So childish if you ask me but I figure when you are swimming in money these are the sort of ideas that will occupy your mind.
“I will give them a billion dollars if they change their name to Dickipedia,” Elon wrote, adding that he would do so “in the interests of accuracy.”
Following the dare an X user, Journalist Ed Krassenstein, excitedly urged the online encyclopedia to take up the offer, reminding them that it was not a permanent thing and that they can always change it back to their original name after they collect and bank the cheque.
